THODAIJI-TEMPLE is an enormous Buddhist temple in Nara, Japan's ancient capital. There is the great Buddha Hall Towers at center of the temple complex. Over the centuries, countless people have come here seeking the divine aid of the Buddha.
Deer-Antler-Cutting Ceremony was first held to prevent people from being injured during the Kanbun Era in the early Edo period. It used to be performed in the dead-end streets in Nara. Since 1892, it has been held in the front approach to the Kasuga Taisha Shrine.
